Exporting your wallet key

Why you may want to export your Tradent wallet key, how to do it safely, how to import it into Phantom or Solflare, and why you then need a little SOL there.

When you sign in with email or a social account, Tradent creates a wallet for you and you never see a seed phrase. That is convenient, but it should never lock you in. Export wallet key gives you the wallet's private key so you can use the same wallet anywhere else.

Why export#

  • Insurance against us. With the key you can reach your funds and your Phoenix trading account without Tradent. See If Tradent is down or gone.
  • Use it in a wallet app. Hold the same wallet in Phantom or Solflare, next to your other accounts.
  • Move on whenever you like. It is your wallet. Nothing in Tradent stops you taking it.

How to export#

  1. Open Funds and choose Export wallet keySign in first. The option is in your wallet's section on Funds.
  2. Read the warning and confirmA secure window from our wallet provider opens. It explains the risk and asks you to confirm it is you.
  3. Reveal or copy the keyThe key is shown only inside that window. It is never sent to Tradent and never stored by us. Copy it straight into a password manager or into the wallet app you are importing to.
  4. Close the windowClear your clipboard afterwards if your system allows it.

Import it into Phantom or Solflare#

Both apps can import a wallet from its private key. The menu names change between versions, but the idea is the same:

Importing the exported key
AppWhere to look
PhantomOpen the account menu, choose Add / Connect Wallet, then Import Private Key, name the wallet and paste the key.
SolflareChoose to add or import a wallet, pick Import with private key, and paste the key.

After import, the address in the app should match your Tradent wallet address (shown on Funds). If it does not, stop and do not send anything to it.

Why you then need a little SOL#

Inside Tradent we pay every network fee, so you never need SOL. Outside Tradent nobody pays for you: a transaction from your imported wallet needs a small amount of SOL for its fee, and a withdrawal that creates a new token account needs a little more for that account's rent. A few thousandths of a SOL is enough for a withdrawal and a transfer. Buy a small amount of SOL on any exchange and send it to the wallet's address.

Safety checklist#

  • Export on your own device, not a shared or public computer.
  • Do not take a screenshot or photo of the key, and do not paste it into notes that sync to the cloud unencrypted.
  • Store it in a password manager or on paper in a safe place.
  • Beware of anyone who asks you to export your key "to verify" or "to fix" something. That is a scam.
  • If you think the key has been seen by someone else, move your money out immediately: withdraw and send it to a fresh wallet.
